Battlers Green Farm Shop named ‘Best Farm Shop/Deli’ in Herts & Beds by Muddy Stiletto Awards 2025

Battlers Green Farm Shop WINS 'Best Farm Shop/Deli' in Muddy Stilettos Awards 2025

Winning the Regional Finals for Herts & Beds, we now progress to the National Finals announced on 25th June 2025

Battlers Green Farm Shop is delighted to announce that it has been named Best Farm Shop/Deli in Herts & Beds in the prestigious Muddy Stilettos Awards 2025. As the only Radlett-based business to reach the finals in any category, the team is overjoyed to not only have been nominated, but to have won, especially as the accolade is awarded by voting customers.

Founded in the early 1960s by Joan Haworth, shortly after the Haworth family relocated from Lancashire, the Farm Shop has been a cornerstone of the local community for over six decades. What began with Joan selling milk and eggs produced on the farm soon blossomed into a thriving business. She moved operations into a small shed beside the farmhouse to expand the range of local goods available, laying the foundation for the shop as we know it today. In the mid-1980s, Joan’s husband Tom built an extension to house the growing business, which remains the home of Battlers Green Farm Shop today.

Now run by Joan’s daughter-in-law Gillian Haworth (pictured above, middle left), with the support of a dedicated team, the Farm Shop continues its mission of serving the community with a wide range of everyday essentials and artisan products from some of Britain’s best producers.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have been recognised as the Best Farm Shop/Deli in Herts & Beds,” said Gillian Haworth. “It’s a real feather in the cap for our hardworking team and a proud moment for the Haworth family, especially Joan, who at 91 still lives on the farm and affectionately refers to the shop as her ‘fifth baby’.”

The award also recognises the success of the shop’s recent expansion into in-house baking, with a new kitchen producing fresh cakes, quiches, and sweet treats. “Winning this award means so much, it affirms that our efforts to grow and diversify our range is resonating with our customers,” added Gillian.

Battlers Green Farm Shop now progress to the Muddy Stilettos National Finals, where they will compete to be crowned ‘Best of the Best’ nationwide. National winners will be announced on 25 June 2025.

In other exciting news for the Battlers Green Farm community, Tia Harris of Everything Starts With You, a Sound Healing Facilitator who regularly works from Destiny Rising at Battlers Green Farm, was named a finalist in the Wellbeing Specialist category in Herts & Beds.

This accolade also follows closely behind another recent success at Battlers Green Farm that saw Brimarks Butchers, the farm’s longest-standing tenant business, named winner in the Best Butcher category of the Watford Observer ‘Your Favourite’ competition 2025.

HUGE thank you to everyone who voted for us, we're chuffed to bits!
