Retail Park Maintenance
& Cleaning Operative

LOCATION

Battlers Green Farm

EMPLOYMENT TYPE

Part-time

WORKING HOURS

Daily 10am to 4pm
with breaks

Role overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Retail Park Maintenance and Cleaning Operative to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the retail park. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Regular cleaning of common areas, including walkways, restrooms, car parks, and landscaped areas.
  • Emptying and disposing of waste and recycling bins.
  • Sweeping, mopping, and power washing outdoor and indoor areas as required.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of public seating areas and outdoor furniture.

 

Safety and Compliance:

  • Conduct routine inspections of the retail park to identify potential hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Report and address any safety concerns or damages (e.g., broken signage, potholes, faulty lighting).
  • Assist with the application of safety measures during adverse weather conditions (e.g., gritting pathways during winter).

 

Landscaping and Groundskeeping:

  • Basic landscaping tasks, such as watering plants, trimming bushes, and removing weeds.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of landscaped areas.

 

Customer Service:

  • Provide friendly and professional assistance to visitors when required.
  • Act as a point of contact for reporting lost property or directing visitors to facilities within the park.

 

General Duties:

  • Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment for events or special promotions.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Coordinate with the retail park management and external contractors for larger maintenance tasks.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a cleaning, maintenance, or facilities management role is preferred.

 

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate cleaning and maintenance equipment (e.g., power washers, mowers).
  • Good communication and customer service skills.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

 

Personal Qualities:

  • Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible with working hours, including weekends and public holidays.
